Hello, my name is Bob, and I've been a fisherman for 35 yrs. Sounds like an intro. for a twelve step program doesn't it? They think we fishermen are addicted, sick, and twisted. Who else would stand shivering in the rain, feet wet, hands aching, making one more cast for a one in 10,000 chance at a Musky? (Get it? The fish of 10,000 casts) Yeah, I have a problem, but they say admitting it is the first step.

Anyway, about 10 yrs ago my friend Dave Wamboldt and I met while working together at Pike Creek Outfitters. Mike and Barb Hines, the owners were ready to retire, do some traveling, and start enjoying life instead of getting up in the dark as they both did for many years. I learned a great deal from them and they always treated me like family, and still do.

What you will find here is people who know what they're talking about, and everything you need for Lake Michigan. Dave is the Perch Guru. He even pours his own worms, we call them the "Wammer Slammers". I would be up the creek, to put it politely, without Dave. Did I mention he's got way more experience than me because he's way older? That's funny, I mention it to him all the time.

Thanks, Bob

fishin' report 8-1-11

FLASH- Five perch committed suicide today. The victims were seen being transported out of the marina in a wire-mesh basket owned by Scotty Haebig. When questioned Haebig admitted that several more tried to follow their friends in the death pact, but they some how didn't make it to the shore. He further stated that he will be going to the same spot tomorrow, just in case this freak occurrence happens again.
Many people have been connecting with perch the past several days. Undoubtedly the best spot has been in a boat fishing the jetties that protrude off the beach at Southport. People seem to be bypassing the bubbler entirely to fish the jetties instead. Some of the old-timers have also been getting fish off the south pier, but that bite is before most people are out of bed. It is actually done by 5:30a.m.
Delavan is still a slaughter-fest. Geneva has also been good for big gills lately.

Trolling has been tough. Some people think that we are now seeing the pre-dawn bite as in years past. Limits of fish are rare. Generally if you get over five-fish per outing you are doing well. Hawkeye has still been working from 70ft to 130, with about 110 being best. Some days the pre-dawn glow spoon pattern has worked, but some days it hasn't. He has still managed to take around 15 fish a day, so he must be doing something right. In case you don't remember, Hawkeye is generally a dodger/fly puller. He doesn't have as much trust in spoons- just a little something to keep in mind.
Will let you know if anything changes. Later- Bob
