Hello, my name is Bob, and I've been a fisherman for 35 yrs. Sounds like an intro. for a twelve step program doesn't it? They think we fishermen are addicted, sick, and twisted. Who else would stand shivering in the rain, feet wet, hands aching, making one more cast for a one in 10,000 chance at a Musky? (Get it? The fish of 10,000 casts) Yeah, I have a problem, but they say admitting it is the first step.

Anyway, about 10 yrs ago my friend Dave Wamboldt and I met while working together at Pike Creek Outfitters. Mike and Barb Hines, the owners were ready to retire, do some traveling, and start enjoying life instead of getting up in the dark as they both did for many years. I learned a great deal from them and they always treated me like family, and still do.

What you will find here is people who know what they're talking about, and everything you need for Lake Michigan. Dave is the Perch Guru. He even pours his own worms, we call them the "Wammer Slammers". I would be up the creek, to put it politely, without Dave. Did I mention he's got way more experience than me because he's way older? That's funny, I mention it to him all the time.

Thanks, Bob

fishin' report 10-21-12

Some people are thinking it's over.  I disagree.  They are still catching Chinooks that are still silver.  To me that means there are still more coming from the lake.  I think it's going to be a few fish trickle in every few days type of season.  In reality fishing in the pike just started for the fly guys because of the rain late last week.  I mean, the water is finally deep enough in a few spots for the fish to make it further west than Carthage College.  I think before that there were a lot of fish bottled up in the pools just west of the lake.  Remember, now that the dam in Kenosha Country Club is gone, those fish can travel to Petrifying Springs Park easier.  Now, there is no longer a dam there either.  So if the water is high enough, I guess the fish can get west of Green-Bay Rd.  Probably end up dying is some farm field.  Weird!
Anyway, just call if you think it's over, you don't have to worry about me telling you it's happening when it isn't.  We don't work that way here.  Later- Bob

fishin' report 10-12-12

Just a quick note to pass along that they have been killing fish every morning since Mon. on spawn in the corner of the harbor by the rocks, and in front of the tube that goes west underground on spawn.  Also when the creek (Pike) was open earlier in the week it was a slaughter fest there as well on spawn.  Everybody down there had fish.  They basically took turns..........................Bob

fishin' report 10-11-12

Spawn seems to be the hottest ticket in the harbor.  Followed closely by white tube jigs tipped with wax worms.  Spoons have been good, mostly glow green no matter the profile, but very tough to get fish to hit them at times.  To describe the action....I'd have to say feast or famine.  Sometimes everybody seems to have a fish on, other times.....it seems like the dead sea.  Hang in there, it's far from over.  The DNR's open house at the Racine weir is this weekend which means there are plenty of fish still around.  That's Sat. (the 13th) from 9-3 at Lincoln Park if you're interested by the way.  It's a really good show.  Especially for the kids, or for people that have no idea of the magnitude of the fall fish run.  Continue to fish the nastiest weather you can tolerate until then.  Later, Bob.
P.S. Have not heard a word about inland action.

fishin' report 10-3-2012

Only about 10 days since my last report.  Not bad for me.  Fishing has been on and off- the best way I can think of to describe it.  Some days they absolutely kill 'em.  Other days you can't buy a fish.  I've been told that certain evenings glow lures have been great.  Last Friday night, a night when many people can evening fish, was lousy.  Some mornings in front of the beach have seen fish for everyone.  Others have been a bust.  It boils down to as always, if you're there when they turn on, you'll catch 'em.  RAIN- without it, we're sunk.  We need the Pike to flow, and the pipes to empty into the harbor.  Racine has been about the same.  Duck hunting has also been miserable in the SE section of the state for the same reason.  Hang in there, and do a rain dance.- Bob

PS- lots of the fish that have been caught have been really clean.
